JDK 1.5 Plugin update for JDK1.5.0-beta1

Postby genady » Fri Feb 06, 2004 12:43 pm

The updated version (that uses -source 1.5 and -target 1.5) is now available at:
For Eclipse 3.0M6: http://www.genady.net/cgi-bin/dl-counte ... =jdk15v110
For Eclipse 2.1.2 with JDK 1.4.2: http://www.genady.net/cgi-bin/dl-counte ... 2.2.1-v110

Please uninstall (delete) the old version of the plugin to avoid conflicts.
Notice that I have not fully checked the ability of eclipse to handle version 49.0 class files. It seems to work, but I guess you will have problems with the metadata facility.

Apart from 1.5.0-beta1 support, it adds a "recompile" button, which should be used to recompile all JDK 1.5.0 classes. You may need to occasionally recompile the whole project, because the plugin does not currently support dependencies between java files.

You need to run "Window->Reset Perspective" to make the new button to appear. If it does not help, start eclipse.exe with the "-noregistrycache" switch (just once), and then run "Window->Reset Perspective".

Please carefully follow installation instructions found on this forum!

Download of plugin fails (2004/03/01)

Postby joerg » Mon Mar 01, 2004 9:14 pm

Hi there,

when I try to download the plugin, I get the following error:
You requested to retrieve the URL /cgi-bin/dl-counter/download.pl?file=jdk15v110 which resulted in an error.

I tried all possible web-browsers.
Hope this can be fixed soon.

Thank you so much!
Regards
Jörg

Hello,

Great appreciation for Genady's work!
Until the download link will be up again, can someone please share its copy of the plugin?

Thank you all.

unable to see errors in Task panel

Postby guest » Thu Apr 22, 2004 2:00 am

I'm an Eclipse newbie, so bear with me...
I do see the errors marked in the editor, but not in the Task view. If I try to open its filters, I do not see the entry related to jdk1.5. In fact, this is all I see:

C/C++ Task
Java Task
JUnit Task
Rejected Patch
Task

what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Roberto

Can you please write me what error you see in the editor, and what do you see in the problems filter.

Besides - what eclipse version do you use?

Function is not enabled

Postby Chris » Sat May 08, 2004 6:38 am

Hi, I#M using Eclipse 3 M8; after resetting the perspective, the Java 1.5 button shows up, but after having clicked, a message box is telling, that the "function is not enabled" and the button disappears. What is wrong? -Chris

Right click on the project and from the pop-up menu select "JDK15->Add JDK15 support".

When setting source an bin folder while installing 1.5 support eclipse will eventually tell you that one of those folders is 'empry'. ;-)

I'm glad it works. If you have more problems, please post them in a separate message and attach the stack trace.

can this be used with beta-2?

Postby metro98k » Thu Jul 08, 2004 9:52 pm

I just installed jre/jdk 1.5.0-beta2 on my system. Will the beta-1 eclipse plugin work for me, or do I need to wait for a beta-2 plugin?

Thanks!
